Description
ArboDraw is a
program for building and displaying phylogenetic trees of
protein and nucleic acid sequences. It can import and display dendrogram files in Newick format
(generated by MUSCLE, Phylip, clustalw, etc.). Among the key features are:
- one-click installation procedure
- capability of building a phylogenetic tree from a set of sequences provided in FASTA format
- the ability to annotate (Right Click) sequences, which allows the user to view annotations by placing the mouse above the sequence of interest
- select (Left Click) and color independently various parts of the tree
- branch swapping (Ctrl + Left Click)
- tree rerooting (Shift + Left Click)
- full control over the way the tree is rendered
- independent horizontal and vertical scaling
- configurable graphical elements (line width, circle radius, etc.) with real-time preview in the settings window
- edited and annotated files can be saved and restored at a later time using a powerful XML-based file format
- zooming capabilities conveniently accessible through Ctrl + Mouse Wheel
- the tree display can be saved as a picture for further reference or inclusion in a publication. The user can easily choose the size, resolution, and measurement units.
ArboDraw is a Windows® program written in C# and
based on .Net technology.
A Linux version based on Mono is coming soon.
